Eucalyptus Smithii
Crude Smithii eucalyptus oil is refined to international pharmacopeia standards (with cineol/eucalyptol content of 85% – 90%) and then sold to the pharmaceutical industry, flavour and fragrance houses and companies manufacturing personal care products.
Eucalyptol
Pure ecualyptol (99% Cineole) is a premium, colourless essential oil component extracted from eucalyptus.
Renowned for its exceptionally high purity, it delivers a clean, fresh camphor-like aroma and is widely used in aromoatherapy, personal care, and pharmaceutical applications for its soothing, invigorating and clarifying properties.
Eucalyptus 90/95
Eucalyptus 90/95 is a highly refined grade of Eucalyptus essential oil standardized to 90–95% (1,8-cineole), the compound responsible for its strong, clean, camphor-like aroma and therapeutic effects.
Eucalyptus 80/85
Eucalyptus 80/95 is a grade of eucalyptus essential oil standardised to contain approvimately 80-85% eucalyptol (1,8-cineole).
It is valued for its strong, fresh aroma and is commonly used in aromatherapy, wellness, and cleaning products for its refreshing scent and supportive respiratory properties.
Eucalyptus 70/75
Ecualyptus 70/75 is a grade of eucalyptus essential oil standardised to contain approximately 70/75% ecualyptol (1,8-cineole).
It has a strong, fresh, camphoraceous aroma and is commonly used in aromatherapy, wellness and cleaning applications for its refreshing scent and clarifying properties.
Eucalyptus Dives
Dives Oil is used mainly by flavour and fragrance houses, who require the Piperitone, Phellandrene and Alpha-Thujene fractions that are prevalent in this oil.
Eucalyptus Radiata
Our Radiata is sold mainly for use in the aromatherapy market.
Eucalyptol
We also produce Eucalyptol, which has a cineol/eucalyptol content >99%. This highly refined oil is used in perfumery, medicines and dental healthcare.

CINEOL CONTENT
CINEOL PRODUCTION
Our primary focus is on Cineol production from E. Smithii species, which yield on average 75% Cineol by steam distillation. This “crude” Smithii oil is then refined by fractionation to produce BP eucalyptus oil. The advantage of using E. Smithii for this purpose is that it easily achieves the 80/85 Cineol percentage, as required by the BP Standards. Busby’s refinery, in particular, uses this high Cineol starting point to produce BP grades of around 90% Cineol, which makes its oil popular with the pharmaceutical sector and with personal care products, due to its higher than average cineol content and its clean eucalyptol like odour profile. E. Smithii is also used for the production of Eucalyptol (Cineol Min 99%), and this is an important product for the perfumery market and healthcare industry.
Considering that the estimate for eucalyptus oil production worldwide is in the region of 12,000 tons per annum, Busby Oils accounts for approximately 2% of this total. Most of our exports go to EU & USA. All of our eucalyptus oil production is done in accordance with BP, EU & US Pharmacopoeia standards.
International production is dominated by China, who produce more than 80% of the world’s supply. Competing head on with China is extremely difficult, especially when there is a downturn in the commodity market. Therefore we focus on value-added products and specialty blends for some of our larger customers. Furthermore our high Cineol yielding eucalyptus oil lends itself to the development of medicines and complementary products for the local and international markets. The growing demand for natural organic products offers wonderful opportunity for our industry, especially with the growing trend to use essential oils as chemical substitutes for products that are deemed to be dangerous and/or environmentally unfriendly.
In addition to the above, Smithii eucalyptus oil is highly regarded for use in children’s products as it is considered a gentler and purer oil than Chinese eucalyptus oil, derived from E.globulus tree species. E.globulus with its lower cineol content and therefore higher content of other fractions, which can be irritants for children and other sensitive users.
